Donkey tooth (Equus asinus), of the Equidae (Mammalia) family. The domestic donkey — a small, long-eared single-hooved grazer of the Equidae; native range: the domestic donkey, kept throughout India. Globally recognized as khara danta in Sanskrit, and donkey tooth, ass's tooth in English. The part used is the tooth, calcined (danta bhasma). A large hard grinding tooth, yellowed enamel over dentine; calcined it gives a chalky grey-white ash, gritty and tasteless.
